PHOTOS: ‘Project Runway’ Season 12: Meet the Designers For as much work as he put into his cable sweater technique, it wasn’t enough to save this look. Heidi Klum said Jeremy was serving a Pretty Woman moment with this design and not in a good way. These boots were made for walking but, according to the judges, she’s streetwalking. And while I like a good nod to the ’60s, the styling here wasn’t doing her any favors either. ![]() For me, these are just clothes, not fashion. Aside from the Christmas cheer, there was nothing particularly remarkable about this look. “Where’s the eggnog?” Nina Garcia wanted to know. ![]() This is the best look I’ve seen from Ken so far. Nina Garcialoved his man-eater reference, saying his girl was sexy while still being covered up. ![]() The fabric texture is really cool and the proportions work here. Ken was eager to rebound from two consecutive weeks at the bottom and he did just that with this design. I agree - it’s well-made and very wearable. Zac Posen even went so far to say that simplicity was next to godliness here. The judges gushed over this look and praised it for being sleek, chic and modern. With the dress being so simple, I question whether the judges were really rewarding her for strong design or just smart styling. Kudos to her for being mindful enough to balance the edginess of these strappy, “hyper-gladiators” with a relaxed dress–but this look is ALL about the shoes. Marie Claire editor-in-chief Anne Fulenwider and The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco rounded out the judges’ panel this week.Īlexandria, Helen and Ken’s little black dresses took the top spots, leaving Miranda, Jeremy and Bradon waiting for the other shoe to drop.Īlexandria had first dibs on shoes and chose the strongest statement pair of the lot. Ken was in the same boat after Tim’s critique that his design looked dated. But they dug in their heels with their designs, determined to execute each of their visions anyway.īack at Parsons, Bradon’s hand-stitched draping technique had Tim worried, so he had to come up with a hurried plan B to resolve his look. If you've never watched this show, or if you have no interest whatsoever in the fashion industry, you may want to take a look and see what all the flap is about.PHOTOS: ‘Project Runway’ and ‘All Stars’ Winners: Where Are They Now?Ī pop quiz at the Marie Claire offices tested the designers’ fashion knowledge and determined the order they got to choose their shoes. This combined with over sensitive designers makes for one side splitting show. ![]() The show also includes guest judges each week who often don't know any more about fashion than the man in the moon. The panel of judges are rather non-professional, which makes this show even more hilarious, as the comments they make about each designer's outfit that week are the topic of much conversation. You couldn't write a script this funny! Often times, watching an episode again and again will allow the viewer to pick up on things that you miss the first time around. The "challenges" for each week are not nearly as interesting as the comedic outbursts and bizarre dialogue that goes on between the contestants. Combine that with the excellent editing by the producers, you get entertainment that you eagerly look forward to week after week. Unlike most shows today, where the characters are either straight out of the local Wal Mart or straight out of acting school, the Project Runway cast comes off polished, but not fake. Project Runway is not your usual "reality" television program.
